Italy stocks higher at close of trade; Italy 40 up 0.42%

Italy stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Chemicals and Oil&Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Milan, the Italy 40 added 0.42%.

The best performers of the session on the Italy 40 were Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI), which rose 2.89% or 0.115 points to trade at 4.097 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI) added 2.32% or 0.069 points to end at 3.019 and Italgas SpA (MI:IG) was up 2.25% or 0.105 points to 4.763 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mediaset (MI:MS), which fell 4.15% or 0.136 points to trade at 3.145 at the close. STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) declined 2.58% or 0.515 points to end at 19.455 and Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) was down 2.37% or 0.0194 points to 0.8008.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 201 to 148 and 31 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.09% or 0.67 to $60.69 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.48% or 0.31 to hit $64.64 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.60 to trade at $1327.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.2403, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8865.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 89.59.
